CITL Faculty Book Club: Small Teaching Online: Applying Learning Science in Online Classes

Fall 2023 CITL Faculty Book Club—What Inclusive Instructors Do. In order to earn a participation badge, book club members must: • Regularly attending book club meetings • Sharing insights on readings with colleagues • Making connections to teaching practice • Explaining how small changes to online teaching practices can improve student learning • Describing evidenced-based methods for successful online course design, instruction, and motivation enhancement • Discussing ways to support online students’ connection to their learning community and effective participation in collaborative learning activities • Applying specific strategies to address challenges inherent to online teaching and learning in higher education
