K-12 ADA/504 Coordinator

Section 504 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (“Section 504”) guarantees equal opportunities in education and employment for all people with disabilities. The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) under guidelines of the Department of Education enforces Section 504, which prohibits public entities and agencies, including school districts which receive federal funds from discriminating against otherwise qualified individuals on the sole basis of a disability. The law calls for federal funds to be withheld if discrimination does occur. The trainer will review who is protected, specific accommodations processes, and special cases with accompanying case studies.
