Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) training for the UK oil/gas industry
Radiation Protection Supervisors (RPSs) have a fundamental role to play in helping radiation employers ensure that their arrangements for working with ionising radiation are being complied with.
In this training course, delegates have had to demonstrate that they understand:
- the role of the radiation protection supervisor;
- radiation types, their origins and their properties;
- basic principles of radiation protection;
- how those radiation protection principles are utilised in the oil and gas sector;
- the quantities used for measuring radiation including the units of measurement and relevant measurement techniques;
- the risks to health created by exposure to radiation; and
- relevant aspects of IRR17 for RPSs including safety measures to protect them and their co-workers from X-ray radiation.
Delegates have sat an examination to demonstrate that they have attained a suitable level of knowledge to act as a Radiation Protection Supervisor.
