Working with Metaphors in Supervision: a Clean Language Approach

Working with Metaphors in Supervision: a Clean Language Approach Metaphors are fundamental to language, offering a shorthand way of describing something in terms of another thing or experience. Clean Language originator David Grove explained, ‘Metaphor mediates the interface between conscious and unconscious processes’, which affords us the ability for powerful exploration in supervision. This highly interactive webinar focusses on how to work Cleanly with supervisees’ metaphors, how to elicit metaphors, and how not to influence others’ metaphors. You’ll practise tuning your ear for metaphors and symbols, ask Clean Questions, draw out and develop supervisee’s metaphorical descriptions and pay close attention to language. You’ll experience how this approach, combined with a strong relational presence, offers access to unconscious thinking, quickly and easily. Host: Lynne Cooper Lynne Cooper has been supervising for 12 years (CSA Accredited) and coaching for over 20. She is an Accredited Master Executive Coach and Honorary Life Fellow of the Association for Coaching. Since 2002 she has pioneered the practical application of Clean Language and Symbolic Modelling approaches in organisations. Lynne is the co-developer of the Five-Minute Coach, trains Clean approaches to Coaches and Supervisors, and is a tutor on two accredited Coach training programmes. She is a member of CSA faculty and is Leading the Design and Development team for the UK17 Diploma Programme.
