Learning is a story. Educators in the Digital Teaching and Learning–Advancing: Google strand will learn how to gather, organize, and share the story of their learning with the world using AVID’s writing process and digital storytelling strategies. This strand brings educators together for a meaningful learning experience that integrates G Suite apps with AVID methodologies to prepare students with key skills they will need in the 21st century to be college- and career-ready. Participants will use AVID’s Digital Learning Framework, the 4 A’s (Adopt, Adapt, Accelerate, and Advocate), to support best teaching practices for integrating G Suite apps and WICOR for the purpose of enhancing and extending student learning.
Learning Objectives
1. Explore how digital tools facilitate the expansion and transformation of AVID’s critical reading and focused note-taking processes through a rapidly growing palette of digital options and learning opportunities.
2. Create, explore, and utilize a digital eBinder to process learning and to practice AVID’s organizational strategies while also discovering ways to personalize and enhance the organizational process with digital tools.
3. Identify and explain how the 4 A’s can serve as a model to inspire educators’ mindful use of technology while being leveraged to transfer ownership of learning from the teacher to the student and prepare them for college and careers in an increasingly complex and technological world.
4. Apply AVID’s writing process through digital storytelling and explore the transformational communication power of multimedia digital tools.
5. Experience and explore self-directed student-learning practices that empower students with voice and choice and develop their sense of agency, which will strengthen their independence and readiness for college and careers.
