Foundational Certificate in Social Impact Consulting

Students enrolled in Project Everest Venture's Virtual Impact Program develop their consulting skills by working in a team on a chosen project focussed on the UN SDG's by responding to a Problem Statement over a 4 week intensive, culminating in students producing a polished pitch that will be delivered to a panel of long standing industry experts. Students must complete five assessments as they progress through this Virtual Impact Program and achieve a pass mark of 65% at first attempt to be eligible for the Foundational Certificate in Social Impact Consulting. Students must complete 3 compulsory Foundational Units and 2 Elective Units. Foundational Units include: Unit 1: Foundations of Social Enterprise Students will gain fundamentals in social enterprise, lean business theory and project management. Topics covered in this unit include Solving social issues with a business model, Lean business canvas and start up theory, Project management, and Introduction to problem statements. Unit 2: Design Thinking and Innovation Students will learn how to incorporate the challenges of real-life contexts and communities. Topics covered in this unit include Design thinking, Cross-cultural competency, Innovation in humanitarian engineering, and Idea validation and prototype testing. Unit 3: Social Impact Consulting Students will learn consulting frameworks and be delivered advice from industry experts while developing their business proposal. Students will develop their communication skills by learning about pitch deck strategy through pitch practice workshops. They will also learn about preparing effective deliverables in the consulting space. Topics covered in this unit include Developing business proposals, Consulting Frameworks, Building a consultancy pitch deck, Presentation skills and pitch practice, and Impact investing. Students have the option to select two of the following Elective Units: Business Environmental Considerations in Developing Contexts; Leadership & Project Management; Risk Management; Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace; Principles of Entrepreneurship; Personality Profiling; Enterprise, Charities and Government; Stakeholder Management; Climate Change, Green Energy & Human Resistance; Social Enterprise in International Development; or Measuring Impact.
