AVID DigitalXP: Digital Teaching and Learning 2020

The AVID DigitalXP™ Digital Teaching and Learning Badge represents Digital Teaching and Learning practices blended with WICOR®, differentiated for Apple, Google, and Microsoft schools. Participants will engage in core practices such as culturally relevant teaching, digital citizenship, and academic language and literacy in a virtual setting. Strategies will be modeled, practiced, and differentiated for elementary and secondary educators. Synchronous learning will be split between a Community of Practice and each school’s AVID Leadership team (Site Team). Asynchronous learning activities are designed to deepen and broaden everyone’s learning pathway. After engaging in this 17-hour experience, participants will be able to: • Model and apply growth-mindset practices, which impact students’ attitudes and beliefs about using technology, to build and maintain a positive culture for the classroom. • Model and blend high impact strategies in writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization and reading with best practice digital pedagogy to engage students in safe, collaborative, and self-directed learning experiences. • Model, intentionally teach, and support students’ digital literacy skills to build student research fluency, communication, and citizenship skills. • Identify connections between social and emotional learning and online life and encourage and support positive interactions for students online and while using technology.
