As environmental and social responsibility are part of Worldstrides’ core values, our Choose Earth initiative incorporates these practices into the ethos and outcomes of educational programs. The Choose Earth Certificate is designed to give participants a concrete way to participate in our organization’s “Choose Earth” goals as well as the necessary tools to then reflect on their engagement and impact.
Receipients of the Choose Earth Microcredential have completed a specifically designed course by WorldStrides that introduces foundational knowledge in Sustainability and Environmental Justice using the UN Sustainable Development Goals as a reputable reference point that guides their learning.
Skills / Knowledge
- Proficient understanding of the history of Sustainability Environmental Justice include key topics within the field and history
- Actively contribute to inclusive and equitable practices that influence individual and systemic change
- Be informed about quality and beneficial sustainability practices abroad, actively brining them back to the US after study abroad
- Collaboratively address systems of inequality and injustice with peers
- Work to reduce individual and collective carbon footprint by changing habits
- Demonstrate sensitive to host community cultural norms and values in pursuit of global competency
- Understanding of global metrics used to build solutions towards climate change
