In conjunction with the Leading with Compassionate Accountability Working Group, this 10-session survey course examines the fundamental governance and management skills required to lead mission-driven organizations in the 21st century.
Over 25 hours, the course examines the full inner workings of managing nonprofit organizations. Each session will focus on best practices in mission-driven organizations and include real-life case studies and interactive discussions around the following topics: history of the nonprofit sector; governance, accountability & regulation; mission alignment & strategic planning; program design; human resources; financial management; marketing/branding; resource development/fundraising; advocacy; leveraging technology; and environmental sustainability. Students conduct further research and create a capstone project applying what they have learned to an area of particular interest.
